Conference on “The Social Security of moving researchers”

Leuven, 23rd and 24th of September 2010
a conference organised under the Belgian Presidency with the cooperation of the League of European Research Universities, the Federal Service of Social Security and the European Commission will take place in Leuven on the 23rd and 24th of September 2010.

Researchers are active persons and should be treated as such. Internationally mobile researchers should therefore have the freedom to move. However often the internationally mobile researcher is confronted with obstacles with regard to his/her
social security position. During this conference we attempt to give an overview of the problems that researchers are confronted with and what the applicable legislation is. At the same time we try to offer possible options for solutions in order to facilitate a
better mobility of the researcher and to make a positive step in the direction of a dynamic European Research Area.
