The Hungarian Science and Technology Foundation

The Hungarian Science and Technology foundation (TETALAP) is a non-profit public foundation established by the Hungarian Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1994. Its mission is to develop the international relations of the Hungarian R&D community, to participate in Hungary’s EU integration efforts by promoting activities in the field of science and technology and to facilitate the access of interested Hungarian parties to EU R&D funding. On the bilateral level the Foundation supports the international cooperative activities of Hungarian researchers by initiating and managing joint S&T projects. Based on management experiences in the field of bilateral intergovernmental S&T project cooperation, TETALAP started to deal with EU R&D programmes in 1998. In the 6th Framework programme (FP6) TETALAP was appointed to operate as one of the national liaison offices with the task to facilitate the Hungarian FP6 participation. It has taken part in 24 FP6 projects; in five of these having the coordinating role (Enwise Ethics Workshop, TrainNet Future, Hungary for FP6, WS DEBATE, UNICAFE), and it is currently involved in seven FP7 projects. Most of the projects have been support actions running in the life sciences and social sciences area. The Foundation was one of the two Hungarian bridgehead organisations within the ERAMORE Mobility Centre network and is the sole bridgehead organisation in the EURAXESS network, in addition to operating as a Services Centre. The Foundation also provides non-profit advisory services for Hungarian researchers, institutions and enterprises in their FP-related activities in the area of proposal preparation, partner search and project management.
